A Pet-only Airline?!

Jet-setting pets soon will have a new jumping-off point: St. Louis.

Pet Airways Inc. of Delray Beach, Fla., said Tuesday that it will begin serving Lambert-St. Louis International Airport this summer. As its name suggests, the flight service is dedicated to the comfort of pets. It soon will be serving 14 cities.

It offers pet-only flights — no human passengers.

Pet Airways will begin taking reservations for St. Louis service sometime this spring, said Alysa Binder, Pet Airways' founder and chief development officer.

The company will transport your dog, cat, guinea pig or rat, provided they have health certificates showing they are fit to fly.

Pet owners will drop off their family pets at an office on the general aviation side of the airport, Binder said. The terminal will resemble a veterinarian's office.
